From 1 July, parental leave payments will rise for eligible employees and self-employed parents in New Zealand.
- Maximum rate: Increasing from $754.87 to $788.66 gross per week.
- Minimum rate (self-employed): Increasing from $231.50 to $235.00 gross per week, reflecting the April minimum wage adjustment to $23.50/hour.
These changes are made annually under the Parental Leave and Employment Protection Act 1987 to keep in line with average weekly earnings and minimum wage rates.
